A Tender Heart
Day 107: A Tender Heart
Joel 2:13
"Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love."
The call to “rend your heart” invites us into a sincere, inward transformation rather than mere external displays of repentance. God’s invitation to return is grounded in His gracious character—He is compassionate, patient, and overflowing with love. This means that true repentance involves a deep, heartfelt turning toward Him, where our entire being is transformed by His mercy. As you think on this verse, reflect on the areas in your life where a sincere change of heart could bring you closer to His loving embrace, and allow His compassion to renew your spirit.
Questions:
What areas of your heart need to be softened by God’s compassion and love?
How can you cultivate a genuine, inward return to God in your daily life?
Prayer: Lord, help me to tear down any walls in my heart that keep me from fully returning to You. Renew me with Your compassion and transform my inward being so that I may live in the light of Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
